❋ What is patternmaking?A pattern is the technical blueprint of a garment. It translates a design whether that's a sketch, a reference image, a garment you love, or a full tech pack into a precise set of flat pieces that, when sewn together, create the finished garment in the correct size, shape, and proportion.
Good patternmaking is what separates a garment that fits beautifully and holds its shape wash after wash from one that doesn't. It's the foundation that everything else is built on.
❋ How we workWe start with your brief — your design, your sample size, your fabric intentions, and your production goals. Sketches, reference images, mood boards, and even garments you own that you'd like to reference for fit are all useful starting points. The more context you give us, the more accurate your pattern will be from the outset.
From there we build your digital pattern, developed specifically for your nominated sample size. All seam allowances, grain lines, notches, cut quantities, and construction notes are included as standard.
Once the pattern is complete, we produce a 3D render so you can review the silhouette, proportions, and construction details on a virtual body before a single piece of fabric is cut. This step alone can save significant time and cost design changes made at the render stage take minutes, while changes made after sampling take days.
We work through your feedback digitally, refining the pattern before it moves to sample construction.
